To use AI Tools in Maatdesk, you need an API key from an AI provider, Google Gemini or OpenAI, which you then add to an AI integration in Maatdesk.
Note. These steps happen on the provider’s website, which can change without notice. If a screen looks different, follow the provider’s own help. Providers may charge for API use, so check their pricing and billing settings.
Table of contents
Create a Google Gemini API key
- Go to Google AI Studio and sign in with your Google account. Accept the terms of service if asked.
- Click Get API key. New accounts already get a default project and API key after accepting the terms. To create another key, click Create API key.
- If you already use Google Cloud, import your project first: in the Dashboard, open Projects, click Import projects, choose the project and click Import. Then create the key on the API Keys page.
- Copy the key.
Create an OpenAI API key
You need an email address, a mobile phone number for verification and a payment method.
- Go to the OpenAI Platform and sign up or log in.
- If you don’t have a project yet, open Projects and create one, for example “Maatdesk Integration”. API keys are created inside a project.
- Open API Keys and click Create new secret key.
- Optionally, enter a Name such as “Maatdesk”, select the Project and leave Permissions as All. Then create the key.
- Copy the key, which starts with
sk-, and click Done. OpenAI shows the key only once. - In Billing, add a payment method and credits. The key doesn’t work until your account has credits, and it can take a few minutes to become active.
Keep your key safe
- Copy the key right away and store it in a safe place, such as a password manager.
- Don’t share the key or post it publicly. Anyone with the key can use your provider account.
- If you lose the key or think someone else has it, delete it in the provider’s site and create a new one. Then update your integration in Maatdesk.
Add the key to Maatdesk
Add the key to your personal integration, as described in Managing your AI Integrations, or, if you are an administrator, to a firm integration, as described in Configuring Firm-Level AI Integrations.
